In 1963, fifty years ago, at the Turin Motor Show Maserati introduced a prototype of a four-door full-size luxury sports sedan called the Quattroporte. Setting the automotive world on its ear with such a large car also being incredibly sporty, the Quattroporte is still with us, having gone through six generations of designs.

Over the five decades of the Quattroporte it has been a fascinating progression, but not always linear. The Quattroporte has experienced design joint ventures, production joint ventures, ownership changes, brief production suspensions, and today what we see is a spectacular evolution of one of the world’s greatest luxury sports sedan.
